Chemistry 111 Prerequisite Information Page

Chemistry 050 is a chemistry fundamentals course that is the prerequisite for Chemistry 111.  In many cases, students can place out of Chemistry 050 and take Chemistry 111.

Chemistry 050 is a zero credit course that has a $100 enrollment fee.  These conditions are in place because the State will not allocate funding for the UI to offer a course at this level.  If you are curious as to why we offer the course at all, click on the "Why Chemistry 050?" link.  Be sure to read the Chemistry 101 vs. Chemistry 050 section on this link.

Upon reading the requirements for bypassing Chemistry 050 you will note that one option is the Chemistry Placement Exam.

Next Scheduled Exam: The next placement exam will be given on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 4:30 PM in REN 112.  Bring a #2 pencil, a scientific calculator (non-text entry/non-graphing), and a picture ID.
